HOW ARE WE FUNDED?

The Cheltenham Fire Company has been 100% volunteer since our inception in 1896. The cost of running a fire company increases drastically every year as apparatus and technology improves. We receive a small allotment of monies from Cheltenham Township that is divided up among the five township fire companies.
In order to survive, we depend on contributions to our yearly fund drive mailer. Without the generous donations from our district residents and businesses, we wouldn't be able to cover our expenses.

What Does Our Gear Cost?
Firefighter Turnout Gear:
An average set of turnout gear to outfit 1 firefighter costs about $3000. We have 40+ active Firefighters.
Water Rescue Gear:
An average set of Water Rescue Gear to outfit 1 FF costs about $1800. We have approx. 20 FF's certified in water rescue.
What about?
| Avg. price of an Engine (no equipment) - $550,000 |
| Avg. price of a Ladder Truck - $930,000 |
| Avg. price of a Squad (combination Engine / Rescue Truck) - $650,000 |
What does all of this mean? It means a fire company has very expensive recurring costs. Turnout gear has to be replaced every 10 years, Fire trucks are budgeted to be replaced every 15 years. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
