At 21:01 on August 26th, Cheltenham Fire Company responded to a vehicle accident standby on W. Laurel Ave. Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle into the porch of the home, two occupants had already self-extricated the vehicle. One of the occupants had significant injuries to the head and the other with unknown injuries. Upon impact, the gas meter to the home was broken off with natural gas venting freely. Cheltenham Fire Company EMT’s assisted with treatment of one of the victims of the crash while waiting for a second EMS unit to arrive. PECO was requested and responded to control the gas. Rockledge Fire Company was dispatched to assist with stabilization of the porch, so that the vehicle could be removed without further damage to the home. Through resourcefulness and the talents of the members of both departments, along with materials that were acquired from a local construction site, the mission was completed without any further damage or injuries. Thank you to Rockledge Fire Company, Cheltenham Police Department, Cheltenham EMS, Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, Burholme EMS and PECO for their help in mitigating this incident.

Please use caution when driving and always be alert to your surroundings!
