House Fire Early Saturday Morning

May 5, 2019

At 12:26 am on May 4, Cheltenham Fire Company along with neighboring assist companies were dispatched to a house fire. Caller was reporting that they could see flames upstairs. Police arrived on the scene and reported that all occupants were safely out of the house, but there were still pets inside. Police began evacuating pets from the first floor. Chief 4 arrived with fire venting through two upstairs windows. Crews arrived and went to work. Within two minutes of arrival, the crew of Engine 4 had advanced a hose line up the interior stairs, began extinguishing the fire and secured a water supply. Next in crews placed multiple ground and aerial ladders, ventilated the building, advanced a second line above the fire, rescued multiple pets and ensured there was no further spread of fire. Thank you to the residents for evacuating safely and thank you to the following companies that assisted us: Elkins Park Fire Company, Rockledge Fire Company, Independent Fire Company of Jenkintown, Wyndmoor Fire Company, McKinley Fire Company, Cheltenham Township EMS, Burholme Ambulance, Bryn Athyn Ambulance and Cheltenham Township Police Department. We also thank Ogontz Fire Company for standing by in our station.
