The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners authorized a property tax rebate program for volunteer members of fire companies and eligible nonprofit emergency medical service (EMS) agencies in Montgomery County, effective immediately.

The program is intended “to acknowledge the value and dedication of active EMS volunteers and to encourage others to become involved,” the board said in a statement. Volunteers eligible for a real estate tax rebate will be able to apply for the program during the 2024 tax year for service provided January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023.
